Datatek's TBAM Dump/Load is a set of
utilities used to reformat and rebuild TBAM
databases.
TBAM Dump extracts data from TBAM databases into a format
that can then be used by TBAM Load. TBAM Load inserts the data into a new
TBAM database while optionally modifying it. TBAM Dump/Load works with
physical mediums (disks, CDs, tapes) as well as over a network connection.
Some of the operations that can be done using
TBAM/Dump-Load include the
following:
- Insert/Delete/Duplicate/Rearrange data record fields
- Replace existing data record fields with smaller or larger fields
- Perform standard translations (e.g., ASCII to EBCDIC)
- Create customized translation tables
- Convert record types (e.g., variable length records to fixed length)
- Conditionally skip records
- Remove duplicate records
TBAM Load supports the same data modification capabilities as
TBAM-SORT. By using a simple command file,
extracted records from a TBAM database can be modified, converted, skipped,
inserted, and reformatted while being reloaded into a new database.
A program is no longer needed to change database field data types and
sizes, extract a specific set of database records for a new database,
or change
the format of a key. A simple TBAM Dump/Load script is all that it takes.
TBAM Load
supports the manipulating of keys, data records, and
partial records. A large number of data type conversions (including many
COBOL data types) are available. Contact a Datatek representative for
more information about TBAM Dump/Load.
